Gills Manager without recent signings for upcoming fixtures
Peter Taylor has revealed that Elliott Hewitt and John Mousinho will be out of action for at least a month.
Hewitt, on loan from Ipswich, has a fractured ankle and could return to his parent club for treatment shortly, while Mousinho was replaced by Myles Weston during the first half against Rotherham with a hamstring strain.
Following the game at New York Stadium Peter said: “After 20 minutes it’s unusual, normally it’s an early one or a very late one. He must have warmed up properly because it was alright and then it goes.
“That’s a bit of a blow for us and we’ve been unlucky with him and for Elliott Hewitt.
“They could be out for at least a month, if not more.
“He [Hewitt] has a little bit of a fracture in his ankle which I think is an old injury so I think he’s going to go back to Ipswich for treatment.
“One thing is for sure, Elliott is a fit young man who can run around all over the place and you need a bit of that.”
As for Donervon Daniels, he started his second match since signing on loan from West Brom on Monday, and Taylor believes the match represented a learning curve for him.
He added: “He will have learned a lot more than he did on Tuesday night, and like all of the back four, he would have done some good things and some things we’ve got to improve on.
“I will talk to them on Monday and we’ve got a nice free week which is good for us and maybe some players there didn’t look as though they could do the Saturday and Tuesday and maybe a little bit tired, but we’ll re-group and get it going hopefully.”
Peter went on to say that Steven Gregory and Amine Linganzi are close to a return, with Craig Fagan having sat out the game due to a knock picked up on Tuesday against Stevenage.
