Gillingham will host former UEFA Cup Winners on July 16
Martin Allen has arranged another top draw friendly as he prepares his Gillingham squad for their return to League One this summer.Championship promotion contenders Ipswich Town will visit MEMS Priestfield Stadium for an evening kick-off on Tuesday July 16, completing a hat-trick of home fixtures that will also see the Gills host Premier League new boys Crystal Palace and local rivals Millwall.
The Tractor Boys, who were UEFA Cup Champions in 1980-81, finished 14th in the Championship last season and are expected to feature among the promotion candidates next year under the guidance of manager Mick McCarthy.
The game could see a return to Priestfield for former Gills star Frank Nouble who netted five times in 13 league outings for us in the 2011/12 campaign. Gillingham last met Ipswich in pre-season five years ago, Mark Stimson’s side holding Jim Magilton’s team to a 1-1 draw courtesy of Simeon Jackson’s first half strike.
Ticket prices for all three fixtures will be announced shortly.
