The result of Saturday’s half-time shoot out…
Sherwin Knight Junior School and St Benedict’s Catholic Primary School played in the last quarter final of this year’s Half-time Shoot-out during last weekend’s game against Plymouth Argyle. The players had seven seconds to score from the edge of the D and could choose to dribble and shoot or simply fire one at goal. The keepers were allowed to move off their line as soon as the whistle sounded and put the striker under pressure meaning that they both had to think and act fast.
Due to the heavy rain prior to the game the shoot-out had to be moved from the Rainham End to the other end of the ground and took place in front of a packed out Brian Moore Stand.
The players showed the crowd why they deserved to be in the quarter-finals, showing some daring attempts to dribble around the Goalkeeper, shots from distance and great bravery from the keepers to rush out and stop the strikers which ultimately saw this shoot out finish 3-1 to St Benedicts.
As usual we would like to thank both schools for taking part in the competition and good luck to St Benedict’s Catholic Primary School for the semi final which will take place on the 6th April when the Gills face Torquay United.
Next up will be the first semi-final between Canterbury Road Primary School and Twydall Primary School when the Gills take on Accrington Stanley.
