MAUNDENE PROGRESS TO QUARTER FINALS

Maundene claim narrow win in Saturday's half time competition

Our last home game against Oldham saw Maundene School take on half-time rookies Byron Primary School in the sixth game of our shoot-out competition.

The players had seven seconds to score from the edge of the D and could choose to dribble and shoot or simply fire one at goal. The keepers were allowed to move off their line as soon as the whistle sounded and put the striker under pressure, meaning that they both had to think and act fast.

On a cold afternoon the two teams made their way on to the Priestfield pitch and had some time to warm-up and settle their nerves. In a shoot-out that only saw three goals go in, the Goalkeepers definitely had the upper hand, and it was a close contest throughout.

In the end Maundene just did enough and took a 2-1 victory and progress to the next stage.

Congratulations to Maundene who are through to the second of our Quarter-Finals, which takes place when the Gills face Crawley Town in the New Year.

Our next contest will see Lansdowne Primary compete against Davington Primary when Gills face Peterborough United on 14th December.
