LOAN WATCH

We check up on some of our younger squad players who have gone out on loan

Some of our on loan players have again been in action this week for their respective non-league clubs, and we provide a brief update on how they are getting on away from MEMS Priestfield Stadium.

Stephen Butcher played in his first game for Maidstone United when they faced Bury Town last weekend; the youngster started the game and was impressive on debut.

Maidstone ran out 2-1 winners on the day thanks to goals from Dan Parkinson and Zac Atwood. Butcher also played on Tuesday night in the Ryman League Cup Final against AFC Sudbury.

The full back came off the bench after 63 minutes to help Maidstone to keep a clean sheet in their 3-0 victory, with Michael Phillips and Frannie Collin (2) bagging the goals.

Joe Carter, who recently joined Canvey Island, has made two appearances so far; the latest of which in a 2-0 defeat to East Thurrock United on Saturday.

The defender started the game and played a full 90, however he ended up on the losing side with Canvey Island now 10th in the Ryman Premier Division.

Callum Davies got his first start for Dover Athletic when he was bought into the side to face Bishop’s Stortford last Saturday.

The Gills defender played in more advanced midfield role for the entire 90 minutes as his new club drew 2-2 with the hosts stealing a point right at the death courtesy of a penalty in injury time.

Callum also played on Thursday evening in a 2-0 win over Tonbridge Angels at Longmead Stadium. The victory puts Dover in fifth position in the league table and in the final play-off spot; however teams below do have games in hand.

Sam Muggleton made his second appearance for Barnet from the subs bench on Saturday when he replaced Elliot Johnson in the Bees game against Forest Green Rovers.

Martin Allen’s team ran out 2-1 winners at the Hive following goals from Valentin Gjokaj and Mark Byrne.

Muggleton was again used from the bench in Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw with Southport, the youngster came on after 57 minutes in place of Mauro Vilhete.

Kane Haysman, currently with Sutton United in Skrill South, started in the club’s 3-2 defeat away at Maidenhead United last weekend.

Harry Grant, formerly a Gills player, brought the scores level for the hosts – Sutton went back in front before United struck twice in the last 19 minutes to secure maximum points.

Sutton are now second in the division, eight points shy of Eastleigh having played a game more.

Devante McKain didn’t feature for Bromley in Tuesday’s 2-1 home defeat to league leaders Eastleigh, however he did start in last Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at the hands of Havant and Waterlooville.

The centre-back has since returned to Priestfield, and is available for selection for this weekend’s game against Leyton Orient if picked.
