TAYLOR: ROTHERHAM A GREAT CHALLENGE

Gills Manager Peter Taylor looking forward to Rotherham clash on Saturday

Peter Taylor has described this Saturday’s game against Rotherham United as `a great challenge.’

This weekend’s opponents are unbeaten in 15 league games ahead of their visit to MEMS Priestfield Stadium, and the Gills boss says the players mustn’t allow Rotherham time to settle as they look to launch a late surge on the automatic promotion places.

Speaking exclusively to the club’s official website he said: “They have a lot of quality in their team and they are playing in a very confident way.

“We have to make sure on Saturday at three o’clock we are absolutely bang at it, to make sure we don’t allow them too much time to go and show us their ability.”

The Gills went down 4-1 in the reverse fixture at the New York Stadium back in November with Cody McDonald scoring the only goal for the visitors, but the Manager said following a prolonged break his players are ready for the task ahead.

He added: “They showed us when we played them away how positive they can be. But I must admit I still think that day was down to us not starting as well as I would have liked.

“We looked nice and sharp on Monday and trained very well. I know that sometimes you don’t know when we are going to perform but I think there is enough about us - we know the importance of the games coming up.”
