Minterne Community Junior School book their place in the final four of the half time shoot out
During half-time of our last home game, we saw the second quarter-final of this season half-time shoot-out competition, with Minterne Community Junior School taking on Brompton Westbrook Primary School for a semi-final place. In the lead up to the halftime interval both teams were taking into the stadium and were all kitted up whilst having the rules explained and getting into the correct penalty taking order.
All five penalty takers had seven seconds to score from the edge of the D by either dribbling and having a shot at goal, or shooting straight away.
The keepers were tasked with making the important saves and so were allowed off their line as soon as the whistle sounded, putting the penalty takers under pressure.
At half time both team came out like professionals and had a quick warm up on the pitch before the competition began.
Both teams gave a good performance and both keepers used the same tactic of rushing off their line to put the penalty taker under pressure, however some powerful shots and fancy footwork helped the players and some really good goals were scored helping Minterne secure the victory and progress into the next round.
A big thank you for both teams taking part and good luck to Minterne Community Junior School in the semi-finals.
The half-time shoot-out competition will be back when Barnsole Primary School take on Maundene School on the 8th March when Gillingham take on Crawley at the MEMS Priestfield Stadium and both will be looking to secure a place in our second semi-finals.
