SATURDAY’S SHOOT OUT RESULT

Find out how Davington Primary School got on against St Margaret’s at Troy Town CE Primary School

Saturday’s 2-0 triumph for the Gills over Swindon Town saw the final first round match in this season’s Shoot Out competition take place between Davington Primary School and St Margaret’s at Troy Town CE Primary School.

With both teams looking to secure the last place in the Quarter-Finals of the competition the players were naturally very excited.

Under the competition rules both team's five outfield players have seven seconds to score from the edge of the D and can choose to dibble around the goalkeeper or shoot straight at goal. The keepers are allowed off their line and can close the penalty taker down, meaning keepers have to be quick to react and the players have to take their chances.

Both teams walked out to the noise of the crowd and any nerves were quickly put to one side. It was a very closely fought contest throughout and needed to go to sudden death to be decided, with Davington holding their nerve to win on the day.

So congratulations to Davington who are through to the quarter-finals. Our first Quarter-Final will take place when the Gills face Port Vale on February 1 and will see two previous champions fight it out for a place in the semi-finals with Twydall Primary School taking on Featherby Junior School.
