Speaking exclusively to the club’s official website he said: “It was a very nice Monday morning. The lads didn’t do a great deal as we had a few people who hadn’t played for a while and then they went and played 90 minutes so we were a bit careful.


“The atmosphere was very good and they were confident and pleased with themselves.


“The response was excellent; Swindon are higher in the league than us and have some very good players and that sometimes makes up the players mind that he knows he is in for a battle and it’s a one on one situation and you’ve got to overcome it.


“Our players were absolutely superb.”

He added: “I walked over the pitch on Friday morning before the Swindon game and to me it was off; there was so much water. He [Tony Provan, Head Groundsman] has done a marvellous job and probably just earned us six points on the strength of the two games we have played.



“Wolves, as people know, was nearly off as the linesman would have been sinking and he couldn’t run up or down so he has had a very good two games for us and certainly helped us get six points and he’s working very hard at the minute [along with Jay Berkhauer – Assistant Groundsman].


“I’m always on to him about the training pitches as we need to prepare as best we can, but he’s done great.”
