Gillingham FC are preparing to host the first Medway Cup tournament for U7 junior sides

This Sunday Gillingham FC will host the first ever `Medway Cup` at the club's first team training ground at Beechings Cross.


Take Heart Mercy Mission.The event, organised by Spencer Davis and Stephen Roddie from Medway United, with the help of Jay Scally and Darren Hare from Gillingham FC, will see 32 teams compete for the winners' trophy in the biggest junior football event ever held in Medway, with all proceeds going to the club's official charity partner,


The teams, which contain players aged U7, will follow a World Cup style format where groups of four will battle it out to progress to the second round.


After that the tournament becomes a straight knockout competition, with the remaining two teams contesting the Final to conclude the day's action.


Supporters are welcome to come and cheer the teams on, with first team players appearing on the hour to show their support for the event.


Furthermore, the GFC Gems will be in attendance and will officially open the tournament at 9.30am, with the first round of games beginning at 10am.


There will also be a range of family based football activities, with a variety of music being played throughout the day.
