Peter Taylor happy with players following back to back wins in pre-season
Gills Manager Peter Taylor says he has seen some good things from his team in the opening two pre-season fixtures.Goals from Danny Kedwell and Brennan Dickenson secured a 2-0 win at Bromley on Tuesday night, following up an equally impressive 3-1 triumph at Folkestone on Friday.
Taylor says early indications have been positive, and says a similar approach will be taken this weekend at Welling.
He said: "I'm seeing some good things, I think in pre-season you see some bad things aswell and those are the things you try to correct.
"The second goal was terrific - Matt Fish played a great ball for Jermaine McGlashan who hit a ball back for Brennan who still had a bit to do.
"We have got better pace this year but we are also playing a bit better and keeping the ball more patiently.
"The players have turned up and all worked extremely hard.
"We are mixing the teams up a bit and it will probably be the same again on Saturday against Welling and most players will play 45 minutes.
"We are just being careful with the fitness levels.”
Peter has watched both games from the stands with Assistant boss Andy Hessenthaler taking charge from the dugout, and the Manager said watching first half proceedings in league games is something he has thought about.
He added: "You do see more and I actually prefer to watch it upstairs if I'm being honest, especially the first half and it's something I'm thinking of doing this year as I know Andy can take control on the bench.
"You see more shape of the opposing team and it's something I'm certainly considering.”
