Peter Taylor reveals he has made Adam Barrett available for transfer following defensive additions in the summer
Peter Taylor has revealed that he has made Adam Barrett available for transfer.Adam, 34, was made club captain following his arrvial under Martin Allen in the summer of 2012 and was an ever present as the Gills clinched the League Two Championship during his first full season.
He remained in the heart of defence during the 2013/14 campaign alongside Leon Legge, but with Taylor having now signed John Egan and Kortney Hause, a decision has been made to allow Adam to seek opportunities elsewhere.
Speaking to the club website Peter said: "This is one of the sides of the job that you don't like because there are times you have to make big decisions on players.
"Sometimes the players that you're dealing with are excellent professionals in every way and Adam has done everything he can to make this club a success.
"He's a tremendous professional and people won't know how good he is in that dressing room and he is a dream to manage.
"But in the end I've made a decision that I didn't think he was going to start as many matches this year as he would have liked.
"We've made him available and I hope for his sake that something comes along that he's very interested in."
