Amine Linganzi, Luke Norris, Antonio German and Brennan Dickenson all found the net at Princes Park in a 4-0 victory and Peter was pleased to see a more passing style.
He added: “I learnt that we are capable of passing the ball around very well and if we get the decision making and timing right we can have a lot of the ball and both sets of players did exceptionally well.
“The first goal was absolutely outstanding – Danny Kedwell took up a brilliant position at the far post, Lofty found him and Amine then got in to support them and everything we talked about they did.
“We were a bit disappointed with the way we played in the second half against Welling so I half expected them to do that and they did it very well.
“The most important thing is the fitness - it’s very nice to win a match and if you do anything in Sport you want to win.
“We’ve just asked them to be patient and keep the ball more and so far they have done it excellently.”
The team have three more pre-season fixtures before traveling to MK Dons on Saturday August 9, but Peter said he won’t start to think about that game until the week leading up to the fixture.
He said: “I haven’t even thought about it; I’ll perhaps think about it the week before but I’ll start doing a lot longer than 45 minutes now.
“People will play longer on Saturday but that doesn’t mean it will be the team because then it may mean that at Dover other players play longer. Unfortunately you will have to keep guessing!”
