CHRIS WHELPDALE SIGNS FOR STEVENAGE

Chris Whelpdale has signed for League Two Stevenage after rejecting new offer at Priestfield

Chris Whelpdale has signed for League Two side Stevenage for the 2014/15 season after turning down a new deal with Gillingham.

The 25-year-old made over 120 appearances for the Gills and scored 23 goals during a three year spell.

He initially joined the club on loan in November 2010 under the management of Andy Hessenthaler, but signed permanently the following summer alongside fellow Peterborough midfielder Charlie Lee on a three year contract.

In his second full season with the club he was a key part of the team that won promotion to League One, but his 2013/14 campaign was hit by injury and has now decided to opt for a fresh challenge at the Lamex Stadium.

We thank Chris for his services while at the club and we wish him well for the future.
