Gills Manager delighted after Craig Fagan's second half strike seals all three points in a hard working performance at stadium:mk
1-0 win against MK Dons on Tuesday evening.Peter Taylor was full of praise for his players after the Gills recorded a hard fought
Craig Fagan struck just after the break to score his first ever goal for the club, and the visitors defended resolutely for the final third of the game to clinch a vital three points.
Taylor said he couldn’t have asked for any more from the squad, and believes the victory marks a huge result in the context of the season.
Speaking after the game he said: “It’s an outstanding result for us, one I’m sure a lot of people didn’t expect as MK Dons are a very good Football team but I couldn’t ask any more from the players with the way they worked.
“I know people will say possession wise there will be loads for MK Dons and not a lot for us but we defended as a team and everybody backed each other up.
“And I’m not convinced there was a real clear cut chance for MK Dons, there were chances of course but not a clear cut one and that’s credit to the players who fought magnificently as a group and deserved a clean sheet.
“They defended as a group and if there were spaces available for the opposition they were away from our goal.
“Adam Barrett and Leon Legge did some outstanding things – I could name them all. It was like a defending session which we do on a Thursday and you overload the team and that’s what MK Dons were doing.
“It looked like they had more players than us but we just had to hang in there.
“It’s a massive three points.”
