TAYLOR: WE KNOW WHERE WE STAND

Peter Taylor challenges his players to win four or five more games to guarantee Sky Bet League One safety

Gills boss Peter Taylor says he and his squad know where they stand as they prepare for the final 12 matches of the league season.

The 2-1 defeat at Bristol City on Saturday was the third defeat in succession for the Gills, but the Manager says his players will be working extremely hard to get a result this weekend when Crawley visit MEMS Priestfield Stadium.

He said: “I wanted to start well and make the Bristol City players nervous but that wasn’t the case, we allowed them to relax and play a bit of Football which is why they had the better of the first half.

“Then we get the goal and you never know, but unfortunately for us we conceded again.

“We will now be preparing very hard for Crawley. We know we have some tough games, thankfully we have a dozen matches to go with six at home and six away so we know where we stand and we need four or five wins to give ourselves a chance.

“We are half way in the table and we are inconsistent but I’m sure a lot of Managers at this level say that.

“It’s not over, simple as that. I know that and have done for a while but I still think we are capable of doing better than we did on Saturday so we need to show that.”
