GFC GEMS GEARING UP FOR RIDE WITH THE GILLS

GFC Gems support Road to Rio challenge as club prepares for charity bike ride

It may be 7,500 miles to Rio, but Maidstone shoppers were given the opportunity to cycle some of those miles last Saturday in the Mall Chequers, Maidstone.

Supported by the GFC Gems (Gillingham FC’s cheerleaders), shoppers were invited to hop onto a bike and cycle away merrily without actually going anywhere!

The mileage cycled though was recorded by computer and will go toward the  final mileage target of 7,500 miles.

And that’s not all, every participant who left their name email address will be entered into a free prize draw to actually win one of the bikes they were riding!

Our thanks go to the Mall Chequers who provided the display space and complimentary parking for the team too.

The objective of the whole exercise was to promote the “Ride with the Gills” 15 mile charity bike ride that takes place next Saturday May 17, 2014 from the home of the Gills, Priestfield Stadium.

This event is being organised to help raise funds for “Take Heart Mercy Mission” which delivers educational programmes into local schools about the work the charity does to help save the lives of children in Sri Lanka.

“Ride with the Gills” is also joining forces with the Medway Big Ride, a fun packed day of free cycling based activities that takes place in Medway Park.”
