Gills U15's Girls Centre of Excellence keeper Katie Startup called up again by England
Congratulations to Katie Startup from our U15s Girls COE squad who has been called up for England’s friendly against Holland later in the month.Katie is one of a 20 girl squad who will be flying to Holland on Sunday 25th May. Once out there the squad will be coached over a four day period by Head Coach Kay Cossington, her assistant Emma Jenks and goalkeeper coach Jen Herst.
Then on Friday 30th May the squad will travel to HSV De Zuidvogels Stadium in Huizen to face the Dutch U15s side.
Katie has been a key member of what has been a very strong squad this season and, as always, has proved to be a safe pair of hand between the sticks.
Katie has shown herself to be a very capable goalkeeper with the togetherness of her teammates enabling her to perform to an impressively high standard on consistent basis.
Katie has been a constant member of the England U15s set-up for the last two seasons, having attended a number of training camps and been involved in previous friendlies and this is a fantastic way to end a very successful season with the U15s.
U15s Manager Pete Sayer said: “Katie is an absolute pleasure to coach and I can’t express how delighted I am that she’s been called up for this friendly.
“This achievement is a great reflection on her continued progress; Katie gives everything to achieving her goals and is an excellent role model for any young player.
“It also tops off what has been an excellent season for the U15s and Katie has been an important part of that, I know her team mates will be ecstatic for her as is everyone involved in the Centre and at the club.”
We wish Katie the very best of luck on her International journey.
