HESS: WE DESERVED A POINT

Jake Hessenthaler delivers his reaction to the narrow 1-0 defeat at the hands of Coventry City at the Ricoh Arena

Jake Hessenthaler said the Gills squad were disappointed to not come away from the Ricoh Arena with at least a point following their 1-0 defeat to Coventry on Friday night.

Frank Nouble put the hosts ahead early on but Gills enjoyed the majority of possession in the second half but were just unable to convert their territory into an equalizer which nearly materialised in the dying moments.

The young midfielder however said the display was encouraging and overall the team were pleased with their efforts.

He said: “The boys put in a great shift, especially in the second half and we created lots of chances and we are just disappointed we didn’t take at least one of them – I thought we were excellent.

“We gave them a good game and thought we deserved a point out of it. We are still happy with how we performed and if we can do that each week we’ll pick up points away.

“We can build on that, even though we didn’t get any points we can take a lot out of it and look forward to Oldham.”
