GAFFER PREVIEWS VALE CLASH

Gills boss hopeful of third straight win as team prepare for second away trip in five days

Justin Edinburgh is looking for more of the same from his squad when Gillingham travel to Port Vale on Saturday.

The Gills have won their opening two fixtures of the season, scoring six goals in the process, and the Manager wants the same work ethic to be displayed in Staffordshire at the weekend.

He said: “It’s a tough one, they’ve had a good start with two clean sheets so it will be a tight game.

“I’m sure Ben and Doug would like to go back and put on a good performance to make sure we try and leave there with some points.

“We need to have a togetherness, trust and work ethic that is infectious. It’s what the group have right now, they are willing to go that little bit extra for one another and that’s a good trait to have.”

Edinburgh has been pleased with the start the team have made and wants the winning habit to remain for as long as possible.

He added: “We were at home on Saturday, it was a good crowd and we got some momentum, we then went away and perhaps had to be a bit more resolute and dogged in our performance.

“Winning is a good habit to have, when you’re doing that things become a lot easier and decisions are easier to make. We want to keep that winning run going.

“We won’t always have as much momentum and possession as we did Saturday but for a young team they are learning quickly on their feet.”

As for team news, Cody McDonald (knee) and Aaron Morris (knock) are likely to be missing. Doug Loft (calf) could return with Emmanuel Osadebe (calf) also close to full fitness again.
