MARQUIS EXTENDS GILLS LOAN

Striker John Marquis will remain on loan to Gillingham until the end of the season

John Marquis will remain on loan with Gillingham from Championship side Millwall until the end of the season.

The striker, who initially joined the club on January 8, made his debut in the 3-1 defeat to Crewe Alexandra before scoring on his home debut a week later in a 3-1 win over Coventry.

He then bagged a brace in the opening quarter of an hour against Oldham seven days later in a match the hosts won 3-2.

He was cup tied for the second leg of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy Area Final against Bristol City on Thursday, but played the full 90 minutes on Sunday in the 1-1 draw at Walsall.

After impressing during his brief spell the two clubs have reached an agreement that will see Marquis remain at MEMS Priestfield Stadium until May.

To date he has scored three times in four appearances.
