GAFFER: WE WERE VERY GOOD

Gills boss praises squad effort despite defeat to Championship side Brighton

Justin Edinburgh said he was very pleased with the performance of his players despite losing 2-1 to Brighton on Wednesday evening.

Bradley Dack had given Gills the lead but Dale Stephens and substitute Chike Kandi turned the game around to give the Championship side victory.

However, speaking after the game, Justin felt his side deserved a lot of credit.

He said: “We certainly, for a long duration, were very good tonight and I’m very pleased with the overall performance.

“We had some really good chances, we got in good areas and probably should have had a couple more goals but it wasn’t to be.

“I was a bit disappointed with their goals but you always are; it was our best performance in terms of the duration of how long we performed at a level for.

“Tonight we maintained a level for near enough 90 minutes.”
