St. Margaret's at Troy Town Primary School become the latest team to advance to the semi finals of our popular half time shootout
The GFC Community Trust were pleased to welcome St Margaret’s at Troy Town Primary School and All Hallows Primary Academy to Priestfield last weekend to take part in the Quarter Finals of the popular Half-Time Shoot-Out competition. The players on each team were allowed seven seconds to score from the edge of the penalty area by either dribbling the ball forward for a one on one opportunity with the goalkeeper, or simply firing from range and going for glory.
Before the shoot-out began, both teams were invited into the stadium to go over the rules and get changed into their school team colours, this was followed by the players lining up in the tunnel where confidence was beaming , each player discussing what style of shot they were going to have for their penalty.
After a short warm up, the two teams were called over to the edge of the penalty area where the shoot-out began.
The Shoot-Out got off to a fantastic start with the opening two penalties being scored by both teams. With a number of stylish finishes and some extravagant celebrations, it was clear to see that all involved were relishing their experience of having an opportunity to score in front of the cheering Rainham End.
On the day, St Margarets At Troy Town had enough in their locker to clinch the victory and secure their place in the Semi–Finals of the competition, scoring an impressive four spot kicks.
We would like to thank both teams for their participation in the competition and for the support they’ve given us over the season.
The Half-Time Shoot-Out competition will be back on the 7th March to welcome Byron Primary School take on Brompton Westbrook Primary School when the Gills face Doncaster Rovers at MEMS Priestfield Stadium.
