LEGGE SIGNS FOR CAMBRIDGE

Former Gills defender agrees deal at League Two Club

Leon Legge has joined League Two side Cambridge United on a two year contract.

The 29-year-old centre back made 92 appearances for the Gills over a two-and-a-half year period and scored eight goals.

The last of which came in the 2-2 draw against Preston last month where a cross from Josh Pritchard helped clinch a late draw at Deepdale.

However the defender, along with three other players, were informed earlier this month that their contracts would not be renewed at MEMS Priestfield Stadium and Legge has moved quickly to secure his future ahead of the 2015/16 season.

Speaking to Cambridge FC’s official website he said: “I have had a little bit of experience in League Two before and won this division with Gillingham.

"Hopefully I can share that experience with other lads in the side, so we’ll be looking to push up high in the league and do great things here.

“It is a new chapter for me in my career and I can’t wait to meet the rest of the lads and get going.”

Gillingham FC would like to wish Leon all the best at his new club.
