WILLIAMSON JOINS CAMBRIDGE ON LOAN

Gills forward signs for League Two side until January

Striker Ben Williamson has joined League Two Cambridge on a loan deal until January 3.

The 26-year-old joined Gillingham in the summer on a two-year contract having turned down a new offer at Port Vale but joins up with the U's in search of regular first team Football.

Ben has featured 14 times for the Gills this season, most recently in the 1-1 draw against Yeovil in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

He has signed for Cambridge in time to play against Accrington Stanley at the Abbey Stadium on Saturday.

Williamson is ineligible to play in the FA Cup having featured against Stevenage earlier this month. There is a recall clause within his deal.
