Weekly update of what has been happening at the club…
Perfect ten for Gills Ladies
Gillingham Ladies returned to Chatham FC this week to face Herne Bay Ladies in the SSE Women’s FA Cup and were looking to extend their unbeaten run to 10 games.
Gills Ladies were proud to welcome Third Walderslade Brownies to be mascots for the match, with the girls playing on the pitch and joining the team in the changing room before the game. Prior to kick off Gills Ladies were presented with five Nike footballs by Kent FA Councillor Derek Owen in return for winning Kent Reliance #MagicOfTheCup competition for October 2015.
Gills Ladies made a great start to the match taking an early lead and mid way through the second half scored two goals in five minutes which ensured Gills Ladies comfortably won the match 3-0 and progressed to the next round of the Women’s FA Cup.
Manager Jack Wheeler stated “our performance and possession was really good considering Herne Bay Ladies made it difficult for us to break them down, but we need to improve in terms of clinical finishing. Another positive was keeping a clean sheet and restricting any shots on target.”
The next match sees Gills Ladies travel to London Corinthians in the Kent Women’s Cup on Sunday. Good luck girls.

Girls Centre of Excellence
Our U17s fixture against Middlesex FA at home last weekend unfortunately had to be postponed due to bad weather. The fixture will now be played on 21st November and will see the winner progress to the second round of The FA Girl’s U17s Centres of Excellence Youth Cup taking place in December.
This weekend all the squads travel to Chelsea, good luck girls.
Girls Academy
This week the Girls Academy had a road trip to Brighton to play in their first fixture of the season. The result unfortunately didn’t go their way but for their first run out together as a team the performance was very encouraging and the girls showed a lot professionalism throughout, well done girls.
Football League Girls Cup
This week saw the Community Trust host the local stage of the Football League Girls Cup (U13). The day saw over 20 schools from across the county join us, all looking to win the right to represent Gillingham FC at the Area Finals of this National Competition. The standard was excellent on the day, with the final being fought out between Westlands School and Charles Darwin School. It was a close contest finishing in a draw, meaning penalties would decide the winner and it was Westlands who held their nerve to seal the victory.
Well done to Westlands School who are now on the road to Wembley as they move on to the Area Finals, hosted by Southend Utd in the New Year. Here they will face winning schools from other clubs from across the South-East of England.
Thank you to all the teams and schools who took part and for making the day a real success and also to Gills Ladies midfielder, Emma Tue who joined the Trust for the day to lend her support and present the winners and runners-up with their certificates and pennants.
