Southend score three times in second half to secure win in Development league
Jason Williams netted a second half hat-trick to inflict a 3-0 defeat on Gillingham in the opening Final Third Development League fixture of the season.Gillingham dominated first half proceedings at Beechings and could have been two or three goals up themselves, but the Seasiders took their opportunities after the break and secured maximum points.
Elliott List, Doug Loft, Mitchell Dickenson and Max Ehmer all came close for the hosts but Gills were unable to find a way through and Williams took the visitors best chances of the match to seal victory.
