Gills start their development league season against Southend at the club's training ground this afternoon
Gillingham begin their journey in the Final Third Development League this afternoon when they take on Southend at Beechings Cross (1pm).Mark Patterson's side were due to begin their league campaign at Luton next Tuesday, however today's match has been brought forward by two weeks.
A number of first team players will be involved including Callum Davies and Emmanuel Osadebe, with Callum Emptage, Michael Freiter and Tom Hadler also expected to feature.
This will be the squad's first outing since the end of last season when Gills were beaten 1-0 by Charlton Athletic in the Kent Senior Cup Final.
