WOMEN AND GIRLS UPDATE 20

Weekly update of what has been happening at the club....

Gills Ladies return to winning ways in the League

Gillingham Ladies returned to FA Women’s Premier League action for the first time since late November and were on the road to face MK Dons LFC. A goal either side of half time was enough to secure three vital points for Gills Ladies.

MK Don LFC made a good start to the match but mid-way through the first half Gills Ladies had a good period of play when Rachel Ahern played through Kallie Balfour who went one on one with MK Dons LFC keeper and Kallie calmly slots the ball home to make it 1-0 to Gills Ladies. The second half started with a corner for Gills Ladies as the ball was swung into the box it went in off a melee of players to double their lead. MK Dons LFC grabbed a late goal but Gills Ladies held on to win the game 2-1.

Thank you to Faversham Town FC and Faversham Strikeforce FC boys who played our U11s and U15s this week at training. Both age groups really enjoyed the experience and gained a lot from it and can’t wait to play the boys again.

This week sees our squads host Brighton at home, good luck girls.

Next week will see our last FREE Coaches Open Evening of the season. Technical Director Mark Patterson will host the evening and invites coaches to watch him put on a session with our U13s on ‘Pressing and Regain’. Before the session Mark will talk through the points of the session and the outcomes expected, giving coaches the opportunity to ask questions.
