Minterne Community Junior School advance to the Semi-Finals of the Lawtech HTSO at the Gills.
Our recent home fixture against Crewe Alexandra saw us welcome the teams from Minterne Community Junior School and St William of Perth Catholic Primary School to MEMs Priestfield Stadium for the second quarter-final.
The players had seven seconds to score from the edge of the D and could choose to dribble and shoot or simply fire one at goal. The keepers were allowed to move off their line as soon as the whistle sounded and put the striker under pressure meaning that they both had to think and act fast.
As the whistle blew for half-time the teams made their way on to the pitch for a warm-up. The Priestfield faithful were in fine voice as the shoot-out for under way and it was Minterne who started stronger, scoring their first and seeing a fine save from their keeper to deny an opening goal for St William of Perth.
Both teams scored with their next and then missed with their third and with Minterne missing their fourth and St William of Perth scoring it evened the scores up for the final takers. A very confident Minterne striker stepped up and smashed his shot into the roof of the net and with the Minterne keeper pulling off another fantastic save they secured their spot in the next stage.
Thank you to both teams for their brilliant efforts and congratulations to Minterne Community Junior School on progressing to the semi-finals.
Our next Half-Time-Shoot-Out competition will take place on Saturday 2nd April when Gillingham face Coventry at MEMS Priestfield Stadium.
