Gillingham’s Half-time Shoot-out is now down to the final two and when the Gills play Millwall this Sunday the winner will be decided.
The competition, which is sponsored by Lawtech Group has seen 16 schools take part this season and reigning Champions Featherby Junior School were the first team through to the final. They secured their spot after a strong display against Minterne Community Junior School when the Gills faced Port Vale earlier in the month. The team have been strong contenders throughout the campaign and will be going all out to hold on to their title next month.
St Margaret’s at Troy Town COE Primary School are the team who will be looking to end their reign after they beat St Margaret’s COE Junior School when the Gills faced Shrewsbury last Saturday. The contest was tight and ended up in sudden death with the keepers having to take the decisive penalties to decide who would progress to the final.
Sports Participation and Development Officer at the Community Trust said: “It’s been another great season of action and we’ve seen some fantastic goals, saves and of course celebrations. The Priestfield faithful have been treated to some real nail-biters, keeping everyone on the edge of their seats.
“The Final is a big occasion for both teams and the pressure will really be on as they enter the pitch at half-time, but we just hope that they enjoy the experience as it’s not something many children have the opportunity to experience.”
So who will it be Featherby Junior School or St Margaret’s at Troy Town Primary School, we will find out on the 8th May.
