The Gills manager speaks to the press ahead of Saturday's Sky Bet League One game against Walsall
Manager Justin Edinburgh admits he is demanding the right result against Walsall on Saturday, as the Gills return to Sky Bet League One action three days after being knocked out of the FA Cup.
Edinburgh on…the game: “I expect a response and that’s what we’re going there to do. That’s what my mindset is and that’s what we’ll put into the players. It’s my job to get everybody prepared for the game.
“There's got to be a lot of soul-searching ahead of Walsall. There's got to be character and desire on the pitch on Saturday if we're to get anything out of the game. We’ll work on things; everyone will know their role and responsibilities.
“I never walk away from a challenge, I’ve never shirked a challenge and I’ve been in football 30 years now. My aim and focus is on turning things around. [On Saturday] we’ll see what character we’ve got within the group.”
Edinburgh on…team selection: “Chris Herd rolled his ankle against Brackley and Brad Garmston felt his hamstring. We didn’t want to risk Frank [Nouble on Wednesday night], as he had a tight hamstring in the first game against Brackley , then didn’t train for a few days and played last Saturday against Northampton. With games coming around as quickly as they are, we felt it was a risk that we didn’t need to take.”
