TEAM NEWS
Jonathan Bond, Aaron Morris, Lee Martin, Bradley Garmston and Jamie O’Hara remain sidelined for Tuesday’s game due to injuries.
Midfielder Scott Wagstaff is pleased to be back fit and playing games, and said that the win against Coventry came at a perfect time after recent losses.
“The lads are buzzing,” said Wagstaff, “but we need to go onto the next game, get a run going and push on up the table.
“It’s hard playing Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday, Wednesday, etc, and that’s what is going to happen now. We have a good enough squad to rotate. People are going to come in and get their chance and the gaffer isn’t afraid of doing that; giving players their chance. That’s what we need to get the wins on the board.”
THE OPPOSITION
The Spireites sit in 15th position in the League One table with three wins, two draws and four losses under their belt.
Danny Wilson’s side come into the clash with the Gills off the back of a last-gasp defeat to high-flying Bury on Saturday.
Top goalscorer Ched Evans is unlikely to make the match, after picking up a heel injury earlier in the season, and the manager says that the Welsh international will not be risked if he isn’t fully fit.
Right-back Paul McGinn and left-back Dion Donohue are both due to have scans to determine the extent of injuries picked up last weekend, and may feature on Tuesday night if passed fit.
LAST TIME WE MET
The last time the teams met was at the MEMS Priestfield Stadium back in March, when the Spireites won 2-1 thanks to first-half goals from Sylvan Ebanks-Blake and Lee Novak.
Emmanuel Osadebe scored in the 80th minute as Gills piled on the pressure, but the equaliser never came and Chesterfield held on to take all three points.
The teams have met 68 times in total, with the Gills winning 30, drawing 15 and losing 23.
