FEATHERBY WIN FIRST HALF-TIME SHOOT OUT

Defending champions win the first round of our popular competition for local schools

Defending champions Featherby Junior School beat Saxon Way Primary School to progress through to the quarter-finals of this season’s Half-time Shoot Out Competition.

Held on Saturday during the interval of the Gills’ 1-1 draw with Bradford City at the MEMS Priestfield Stadium, the opening shoot out of the season for local schools  proved to be a fantastic watch for everybody inside the ground.

Both teams started off brilliantly, each scoring their first attempts.  Featherby increased the pressure on Saxon Way by going in 2-1 ahead, but Saxon converted their third penalty to level the scores at 2-2.

After both teams missed their final two penalties, the pressure fell on the goalkeepers to claim a sudden-death victory. Featherby’s number one converted, before Saxon Way’s missed, prompting joyous celebrations from the defending champions. Their 3-2 win sees them progress through to the quarter-finals.

We would like to thank Saxon Way Primary School for their hard work and stunning effort in the shoot out, and congratulate Featherby on their win.

The competition continues on September 24, during our game against Coventry City at the MEMS Priestfield Stadium.
