PENNOCK: “WE NEED A WINNING MENTALITY”

Head coach Ady Pennock spoke to the press ahead of the Sky Bet League One fixture against Bristol Rovers on Friday

Gills head coach Ady Pennock says it is important that his team finds the winning mentality again if they are to take three points from Bristol Rovers at the MEMS Priestfield Stadium on Friday

Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Thursday, Pennock stated the importance of the Easter weekend, which starts against Rovers on Friday before the trip to the Valley to play Charlton on Monday

Pennock on… Friday’s game: “We have to be ready and give it our all. A little bit of luck here and a bit of quality there and we will get the result.

“We have to more than match them on Friday. We have to show the desire and the winning mentality has to come back.”

Pennock on… the Easter schedule: “We’re coming off the back of Millwall, where there were a lot of positives and it was a good point.

“It is a big Easter for us, playing Bristol Rovers here tomorrow and then away to Charlton on Monday. It is very exciting and we cannot wait.

“It has been a good week; the sun has been shining and we have been working hard in training. I wish the game was tonight.

“We have to look for two wins. Tomorrow [against Rovers] will be tough, but we are in a good place – not in the table but we are mentally.

“The boys are in good spirits. They took a lot of positives from the Millwall game.”

Pennock on… League One survival: “I still think it is in our hands. Not everyone around us is going to win their last four games.

“It is a massive weekend, a big Easter, but we have to be positive. There is no point in moping around and looking back at past games, we have to look forward and take it one game at a time.

“A win or a point tomorrow could move us up in the table. We just have to worry about ourselves.”
