MK DONS V GILLINGHAM

Sky Bet League 1

Stadium:mk

Saturday August 19

Kick-Off, 3pm

Team News:

Ady Pennock will be without striker Conor Wilkinson who serves the first of a three-match ban following his sending off against Bradford.

Bradley Garmston (calf) will be out for another four weeks while Billy Bingham (foot) could return to the squad for the first time since the opening day against Doncaster.

Ben Nugent is available for selection after signing for the club on Tuesday, as is Steve Arnold who joined the club on Thursday.

Tom Hadler will be missing after agreeing a loan move to Gloucester City until January. Aaron Morris remains a long term absentee.

MK Dons will have to wait and see whether new signing Osman Sow can take his place in the squad. The Swedish striker signed earlier this week but requires international clearance.

Peter Pawlett (ankle) could make the starting XI but Chuks Aneke (hamstring) isn’t quite ready for action despite returning to training

Management Comments:

Jamie Day – “We need to go there, play on the front foot and take the game to MK Dons. If we can get an early goal that will benefit us. We're all positive and want to get that first win under our belts.”

Robbie Neilsen – “I expect a tough game. They beat us down there last season so we know it’s going to be a hard one for us.

“We have to stand up to the physicality and hope that our attacking players can be on form to win us the game.”

We’ve met before:

The clubs last met at stadium:mk in April when Dean Lewington snatched all three points for the hosts in a 3-2 win with virtually the last kick of the game with Gills having equalised just moments before through Josh Wright.

The teams have only met on 15 occasions with Gillingham narrowly edging the head to head statistics with six wins to five.
