Gillingham have clinched the signing of goalkeeper Steve Arnold on a one-year-deal.
The 27-year-old, who worked alongside Ady Pennock during his time at Forest Green, will wear the number 26 jersey and is available for selection ahead of Saturday’s match against MK Dons.
Arnold, who has most recently been playing for Dover Athletic, will provide competition between the sticks with Tomas Holy currently getting the nod over Tom Hadler and Stuart Nelson.
Arnold began his career in the youth ranks at Boreham Wood and Arsenal before joining Norwich City in 2007.
However it was with Grays Athletic that Steve made his professional debut prior to spells at both Wycombe Wanderers and Hayes and Yeading.
He signed for Stevenage in the summer of 2012 and made 36 appearances before joining Forest Green two years later where he would feature on 45 occasions.
Last season he was with Dover Athletic and played 30 times, keeping nine clean sheets.
On signing his deal at Priestfield Steve said: “I’ve been here for the last two or three weeks just getting familiar with the boys and I’m buzzing to get it all signed and sorted.
“I still have ambitions of making a name for myself in the league and hopefully I can do that here.”
Pennock added: “I signed Steve during my time at Forest Green and he was top drawer there. For me he hasn’t fulfilled his potential as a goalkeeper; he is a good lad and will fit in well.”
