PENNOCK: "FIRST HALF NOT GOOD ENOUGH"

Gills head coach Ady Pennock spoke to the media following his first game in charge at Oldham

Head Coach Ady Pennock believes his team’s first-half performance wasn’t good enough as the Gills lost 1-0 away at Oldham Athletic on Saturday.

Josh Law’s 39th-minute free-kick separated the two sides, despite some late pressure from the away side, however the Gills remain 17th in the Sky Bet League One table.

Pennock on…the performance: ”I’m bitterly disappointed because I’m a supporter here as well. The first half was unacceptable.

“I thought they had men in their side and we didn’t. We have to come to places like this and roll up our sleeves, and that was unacceptable.”

“The ‘keeper made a few saves in the first half from long throws but we didn’t do enough from open play. The second half we were better.”

Pennock on…Gills penalty claims: “I did honestly think Dacky got fouled for the first challenge, and I didn’t see the second one, but that is the referee’s decision and you have to move on.”

Pennock on… Oldham's goal: “Fair play to him (Law), it was a very good free-kick, but I’m disappointed in giving a free-kick away in that area. He punished us. That was the real bit of quality from the game.”
