GIRLS REGIONAL TALENT CLUB TRAIN WITH GILLS LADIES

The Gills Ladies gave the RTC a very special day before their cup final

Our Gills Girls Regional Talent Club (RTC) had a very special training session this week thanks to Gillingham Ladies FC!

The Ladies team visited our U10 and U12 teams before their cup final game against Aylesford Ladies FC in the Kent FA Kent Reliance Women’s Cup.

The Ladies took part in some fun skills and drills with the RTC girls at the Gallagher Stadium in Maidstone, where the cup final would later take place.  Our young players also got the chance to practice their shooting in front of goal with the Gills team.

After training, some of the RTC girls also had the opportunity to be mascots for the cup final, proudly leading the Ladies team onto the pitch in front of a crowd of over 500 supporters.

The day was a fantastic opportunity for the RTC girls, who were excited to meet their role models, and to see the potential progression path they could take in the game.  The extra training practice with the young groups also paid off for the Gills Ladies team too, as they hit the target an incredible 17 times during their match to win the cup 17-0 in front of the roaring crowd!

Women and Girls’ Development Officer Georgia Bowie, who organised the training session, said: “Gillingham Ladies are a true inspiration to the next generation of female footballers, and I couldn’t have been happier to see the positive interaction between the Ladies and RTC girls. To hear the RTC players know the names of the players and be genuinely excited to be a part of the experience was heart-warming!”

Thank you to Gills Ladies FC for giving the RTC girls a really special day, and congratulations on your resounding victory!

If you’re inspired by the Gills Ladies’ success, and would like to train and play football with the Gills, why not try out for our Girls Regional Talent Club!
