Chairman Paul Scally has written a message of thanks to the club's supporters
“I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you very much to the supporters who were at the stadium for today’s game against Burton Albion.
“You came in incredible numbers, you didn’t stop singing from start to finish and if that continues then I think we are in for a good season.
“It was a highly impressive performance; every single member of the team put in a fantastic shift and it was a great tribute to our forefathers of 125 years ago. It was pleasing to see so many people in our black and white anniversary shirts and we couldn’t have asked for a better opening to our 2018/19 campaign with a win at Priestfield in difficult conditions, considering the tropical storm that we had yesterday which made the surface very wet.
“Had more rain come today then it is questionable whether the game would have gone ahead at all so we owe a great deal of gratitude to John and the ground staff who have worked tremendously hard to get the game on.”
