BURY V GILLINGHAM

Gigg Lane

Sky Bet League 1

Saturday February 24

Kick-off, 3pm

Team News:

Callum Reilly is ineligible to play against his parent club so Lee Martin is set to replace him in midfield.

Manager Steve Lovell revealed that Billy Bingham (leg) will be back in action around the end of March, whilst Alex Lacey (ankle) should be back much sooner.

Bury will hope that Neil Danns and Danny Mayor will be ready to play after playing the full 90 minutes in Monday’s 2-0 defeat to Blackburn.

Defender Nathan Cameron may be rested due to his reoccurring knee issues, whilst Jermaine Beckford, Craig Jones and Eoghan O’Connell all remain long term absentees.

Manager Comments:

Steve Lovell - “Bury have got players who can individually win games so we need to be mindful of that. When they played here they were excellent in the first half.

“It doesn’t matter if you’re playing a team at the top or at the bottom. You need to get out there and score goals. The objectives remain the same.”

Ryan Lowe - “The lads are looking to put Monday right. We’ve got to stick to our game plan now, and just worry about us.

“We had a blip on Monday night but we’ve got a good game with Gillingham to look forward to now.”

Previous Meetings:

The last time the two sides met was in November 2017, the match finishing in a 1-1 draw as a late Josh Parker equaliser prevented Bury from winning at Priestfield.

Gillingham defeated the Shakers on their last visit to Gigg Lane as goals from Bradley Dack and Cody McDonald helped them go two goals to the good. Despite James Vaughan pulling a goal back, the Gills hung on for three crucial points.

The teams have played each other 55 times in all competitions with the Gills having the better of the tie with 23 wins, whilst the Shakers have won 21 times. There have also been 11 draws between the two teams.

Bury win- 13/10
