Gills defeat the Iron 3-1 at Glanford Park.
Steve Lovell said he was delighted for his players following Gills 3-1 win over Scunthorpe on Saturday.
Lee Martin, Josh Parker and Tom Eaves were all on target as the visitors clinched all three points at Glanford Park.
Speaking after the game the Gills boss said: “I’m obviously very pleased to get the win. It’s not just the win but the way we win. In the first half I thought we started very well and controlled the first 25 minutes without scoring.
“They were going to come at us and have a go, and they did. They got the equaliser but then that showed the spirit of the boys and what pleased me more than anything is that we’ve been in these positions before and sat back.
“We’ve worked on how not to sit back and how to believe in ourselves when we win the ball to keep it and then use it better, and we did. Every time we got the ball in the second half on the counter attack it looked as though we would do something.
“I was so pleased with the way we played. It’s a great three points.”
