Folkestone run out good for fitness say Gills duo.
Both Alex Lacey and Dean Parrett were pleased to come away from Folkestone with a half of Football under their belts in a 1-1 draw on Saturday.
Manager Steve Lovell gave 22 players the chance to impress at the Fullicks Stadium, with all players coming away injury free.
Following the game Alex Lacey said:
“We’ve been doing a lot of running so it’s good to be out on the pitch and remove the cobwebs.
“I feel really good, I feel strong and I feel like I am recovered and repaired. Touch wood I will have a good year injury wise.
“Pre-season is always tough but fair play to Folkestone because they played well but it’s nice to get the minutes in. The new lads have been with us for two weeks and they have all fitted in well.”
Dean Parrett added: “The gaffer was desperate for all of us to get 45 minutes, which we did, and everyone has come through with no injuries which is a plus. It’s good to get to know everyone better on the pitch.
“At a new club you can’t wait to get in and see how everything is run. It’s good to be back.
“It was a great finish [Conor Wilkinson's equaliser] and we had a few chances today; all in all we have come away with a draw and 45 each which is good.
“Pre-season is all about getting fit; you don’t want an injury in the first game.
