Henry Woods nets a hat-trick as Gills coast to victory in pre-season friendly.
Gillingham secured a comfortable 7-1 win over Sheppey United in a pre-season friendly at the Havill Stadium on Saturday afternoon with Henry Woods bagging a hat-trick in the process.
In a game which featured mostly second year professionals and members of the youth team, Gills took full advantage of their possession by scoring seven goals – one of them coming within the first couple of minutes when Bradley Stevenson pounced on a mistake by the opposition keeper to convert from inside the area.
Franck Moussa, back at Priestfield on trial, made it 2-0 with Stevenson turning provider on this occasion before Darren Oldaker made it three just a minute later when he buried home one of his customary free-kicks.
Henry Woods, who signed a first year pro deal earlier in the year, made it 4-0 before grabbing a fifth not long afterwards.
Charles Noyelle made it six before Woods completed his hat-trick to give Gillingham a seventh goal. Dan Bradshaw pulled a goal back for the hosts with 12 minutes to go via the penalty spot.
In Saturday’s other game, Gills drew 1-1 with Folkestone with Conor Wilkinson grabbing an equaliser with a quarter of an hour to go.
