Olly Lee extends Gills loan

Midfielder extends loan deal until May.

Olly Lee has extended his loan spell at MEMS Priestfield Stadium until the end of the season.

The midfielder initially joined on a deal until January 27 from Hearts in August, but a deal has now been agreed for the former Luton man to stay in Kent until May.

Olly, 28, has featured 25 times for the Gills since returning to the club for a second spell, scoring four times. He netted a brace on his debut in a comfortable 5-0 win over Bolton Wanderers.

His deal follows the arrival of Jordan Roberts from Ipswich, who has also agreed a loan deal until the end of the season.

On securing Lee's signature, Manager Steve Evans said: "I'm really pleased because he has had the opportunity to speak to other interested clubs, notably two in our league who are higher in the table than us.

"He made it clear that his preference was to stay at Gillingham; he has enjoyed the first half of the season, he has played a big part.

"He has been exceptional in some games. I was down yesterday because I thought we might be without him for Posh. Thank You to Hearts for making it happen."
