Steve Evans has appointed a new Goalkeeping Coach.
Ian Pledger has been confirmed as Gillingham Football Club’s new Goalkeeping Coach ahead of the 2020/21 Sky Bet League 1 season.
The former Luton Town stopper, who returns to MEMS Priestfield Stadium for a second spell in the role, has been working closely with the management team throughout pre-season and it has now been confirmed he will continue in the job, which will see him take charge of day-to-day training sessions with both Jack Bonham and Joe Walsh.
He will also take a lead role in overseeing the coaching of the club’s academy goalkeepers, including Charlie Walker.
Pledger has worked with Steve Evans and Paul Raynor before, most notably during his time with Mansfield, and has also coached at Peterborough United.
On securing his new coach, the Gaffer said: “Ian is a superb Goalkeeping Coach and is someone I and Paul Raynor have worked with before, so we know exactly what he brings to the table and will get the best out of our two excellent Goalkeepers.
“He is a terrific addition to our backroom staff; he has been here before so he knows the club, knows the people and I know both Joe and Jack will enjoy working with him on a daily basis.”
