Full-back signs for Gills ahead of 2022/23 season.
Gills have added to their defensive options ahead of the 2022/23 season with the capture of former AFC Wimbledon full-back, Cheye Alexander.
Cheye has been on trial at the club over the summer and has impressed during training and friendly fixtures sufficiently to earn a full-time contract.
Alexander, 27, began his career in the academy at West Ham and spent ten years with the Premier League club prior to joining Port Vale in the summer of 2013. He spent a year at Vale Park, spending a short time on loan at Ilkeston in the process, and then went on to play for Concord Rangers and Bishop's Stortford before Aldershot signed the defender in 2015.
He played 140 times and scored five goals during his spell, alerting the attentions of Barnet who acquired his services in the summer of 2018. Following a two-year spell at The Hive he switched to AFC Wimbledon where he spent nearly two years before being released.
Alexander also has international experience to his name having represented the England "C" team against Estonia U23's in 2016.
Cheye is available for selection ahead of Saturday's game against Portsmouth.
