Club pays tribute to staff and students at the GFC School.
Since the Covid pandemic hit in 2019, life has been disrupted for everyone, all over the world. One of the groups that have unfortunately been impacted the most are school students in what has proved one of the most challenging times for education in the nation’s history.
Gillingham FC footballers therefore wanted to pay tribute to the hard work of staff and students at The GFC School who worked tirelessly as a strong community to meet each challenge head on.
On Saturday, the players pulled on training shirts emblazoned with the school badge to show their solidarity as students took their seats in the Medway Stand to watch them warm up.
The footballers, who learnt about the backstories of students and the difficulties they have overcome, promised to put on a performance to commend hardworking GFC students… and they didn’t disappoint.
Roared on by the excited students in the crowd, the Gills heroically battled Sheffield Wednesday for an important point as they hunt for League One survival.
Thank you for playing for the students, you did not let them down!
