Gills applied huge pressure at Oxford but were forced to settle for a point in a 0-0 draw.

Julian Kuhr struck the post and Mark Moss' men had an effort cleared off the line as the hosts held on for a share of the spoils.

The result sees the Gills go second in the Merit League, behind Plymouth Argyle.

Speaking to the club website, Mark said: “It was a frustrating afternoon from a result point of view because we felt we did more than enough to win the game. From a performance point of view we were really pleased; we dictated the game and restricted them to no shots on goal at all throughout the 90 minutes which, at youth team level, shows you’ve got domination of the ball.

“We just couldn’t find the goal; we hit the post, had one cleared off the line, missed a couple of really good chances and it was frustrating because it’s two points dropped really rather than a point gained. It was a good performance, but we need to find a way of winning games like that."

Freddie Carter suffered an injury (quad) during the game and may miss the rest of the season."
