Stuart O'Keefe named Gills Player of the Year

Skipper wins official Player of the Year award.

Stuart O'Keefe has been named Gillingham Football Club's "Player of the Year" for the 2021/22 Sky Bet League 1 campaign.

The 31-year-old former Crystal Palace man featured in 43 games in all competitions throughout the season, scoring once.

He was given the Captaincy by new boss Neil Harris following the departure of Kyle Dempsey to Bolton, and Stuart proved to be a regular in the side from that point on having suffered injury in the earlier part of the campaign.

Jack Tucker was second in the voting, with Robbie McKenzie third.

On winning the award, Stuart said: "I am honoured and delighted to have won this award. I'd like to thank the fans who have been unbelievable throughout the season and the hard work ahead of the 2022/23 campaign starts now."

Stuart also won the "Away Player of the Year" which is selected by regular users of the official supporters' coach.

Robbie McKenzie won the "Players' Player of the Year" with Gary Hemens being presented the "Elliott Scally Cup for special achievement."

Tucker won three awards, securing the "Young Player of the Year" and "MEMS Player of the Year," which was presented by our official title sponsor Chairman, Colin Jarvis.

He also won "Goal of the Season" for his excellent strike against Wycombe at ME7 in April.
